bernardBernard LeRoy Dawes, 84, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Dawes was born July 7, 1932, in Limestone County to Wilburn Dawes and Nettie Vinson Dawes.

Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bud White and Keith Vinson officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Mr. Dawes was a member and Associate Minister of the Northside Church of Christ. He was a longtime minister for over 50 years.

Preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Nettie Dawes.

Survived by his wife, Jean Dawes; one son, Byron Dawes and wife, Laura of Mobile; one daughter, Debbie and husband, Mark of Daphne; five grandchildren, Jon Turner of Daphne, April Craig and husband, Jason of Pensacola, Florida, Timothy M. Dawes, William Dawes and Charles Dawes, all of Mobile; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Craig and Landon Craig, both of Pensacola, Florida; one brother, Thomas Wayne Dawes of Decatur; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jon Turner, Timothy M. Dawes, William Dawes, Jason Craig, Marty Vinson, Robert Vinson, James Jackson, J.W. McKinney and Billy Abernathy.
