Sara Jo Hammock, age 91, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Hammock was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for over 70 years.
The visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with the funeral following at 2 p.m. at the church. Officiating will be Brother Jerome Sherrill and Dr. Scott Delashaw. Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thelton Hammock; son, Gerald Welborn; parents, Maxie P. McDowell and Lucy Mae Pilgrim McDowell; and brothers, William L. McDowell, James A. McDowell, and Roy G. McDowell.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Robert P. McDowell (wife, Louise) and Thomas W. McDowell (wife, Doris); a large number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
The pallbearers will be Allen McDowell, Brian Welch, Lonnie Stancil, and David McDowell.
Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
