Randy Helms – Obituary

randy-helms-1474460263Funeral services for Randy Helms, age 69, are scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, September 23, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Lexington with Bro. Tommy Crocker, Dr. Hoyt Wilson and Dr. Clay Hallmark officiating. Interment will follow at the Helms’ Family Cemetery in the Shady Hill Community.

Randy, co-owner of Helms Motor Company and Candy Meadow Farm, died Tuesday in Lexington after a short illness. He was a lifelong resident of Lexington and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Jack Hay Sunday School Class. There were many things that Randy cherished, but none more than his family, others interests included farming, dirt track racing in the 1990’s, barrel racing with his grandson, Trae and serving his community in a number of ways.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pat Helms; daughter, Candy Helms Townsend (Mitchell Hayes); grandson, Trae Townsend; brothers, Steve (Becky) Helms and Robin (Pam) Helms; his mother, Juanita Helms and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Randy in death was his father, Max Helms and his sister, Candy Helms.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Lexington from 2 pm – 8 pm on Thursday and 10 am until 1 pm Friday. The family has requested donations to the First Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society, or the Carl Perkins Center.
