Funeral service for Atlas Edward Howard, 86, will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Howard died on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Floyd “Tutt” Fann Veterans Home. He was born March 31, 1930, in Coosa County to James William Howard and Bessie Bryant Howard. Mr. Howard served in the Korean War. He attended Auburn University and Stamps Baxter Music School in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Howard played gospel music professionally and owned the Christian Bookstore in Decatur. He taught music for over 30 years and was the Minister of Music at several churches. He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Jean Knight Howard.
