Edward Vaughn Harwell – Obituary

Celebration of Life for Edward Vaughn Harwell, 75, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Harwell, who died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, was born May 2, 1941, in Limestone County to Herman and Stella Mae Harwell. He was a retired mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, recipient of the Purple Heart, chaplain of American Legion Post 15, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Tammy (Steven) Zihlavsky, Vaughn Jr., Lori (Doug) Moran, Dale (Karen) Weems, David (Caroline) Weems, Sheila (Dale) Fugate, Miranda Weems; siblings, Bobby (Starlett), Johnny (Jenny), Wanda, Joan (Rick) Stockton, Madelyn Bailey; grandkids and great-grandkids.

Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ann Barnett, James, Lazelle and Herman Jr.; and son, James Weems.

Pallbearers will be American Legion Riders.
