DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department released a statement regarding the death of Braxton Edwards and the attempted murder of his brother Cameron Edwards that occurred at 12:03 AM on Sunday, August 21:

“HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UPDATE SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:

On August 21, 2016 at approximately 12:03 AM, Morgan County E911 received the call of a shooting at 1007 Danville Rd. SW.
The caller advised that 19-year-old Braxton Reed Edwards had been shot. Multiple units from the Decatur Police Departments C- Shift Patrol Division as well as Decatur Fire and EMS responded to the scene.
Upon their arrival it was discovered that along with Braxton Edwards, his brother 23-year-old Cameron Jarod Edwards had been shot as well.

Braxton Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene and Cameron Braxton was transported Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
Braxton’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Services in Huntsville for an autopsy.
The Decatur Police Departments Violent Crimes Unit began an investigation into the case. During the course of the investigation Darrin Samone Wilkes of Huntsville and Terrance Shaquille Ellison of Harvest, Alabama were developed as suspects.

Subsequent to the investigation both Wilkes and Ellison were charged with Capital Murder and Assault in the 1st Degree. Both will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail on no bond.”
