Leonard Newton – Obituary

Mr. Leonard Newton, 92, of Waterloo, passed away on August 12, 2016 at Glenwood Nursing and Rehab. He worked as a millwright at Anchor Conveyers in Michigan for 24 years and at TVA in Alabama, as a machinist for 12 years. He also worked in California twice in the Civilian Conservation Corp.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Greenview Funeral Home from Noon- 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Wayne Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy’s Chapel’s Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nevada Newton; parents, Robert Newton and Myrtle McClusky Newton and his son, Thomas Newton.

Survivors include his son, Don Newton; brother, Chris Newton (Julie) of Lakeland, Fla; sister, Mildred Green of Tampa, Fla; grandchildren, Thomas Newton, Erin Michael, Amanda Creech and Bradley Newton; great-grandchildren, Ryan Newton, Stephen Wright, Chase and Logan Michael, Cooper and Isabella Creech and Nevada Rose Newton; great-great-grandchildren, Carson and Tinley Newton.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Ryan Newton, Stephen Wright, Chase Michael, Gary Hester, John Nutbrown and Ricky South. Clint Hart will serve as an alternate pallbearer.
