Jean Wise Bradley, of Huntsville, passed away at the age of 91 years after a brief illness. Jean was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and raised there, in Silver Spring, Maryland, and in Atlanta. At the age of 19 she took a bus from Nashville to Savannah, Georgia, with her older sister to marry then-SSgt. Norman Bradley, who was on a three day pass. They were married for over 70 years. Jean attended UAH and traveled extensively with Norman following his retirement. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church from its founding. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Norman Bradley; her parents, Jesse Thomas Wise and Delsie Tally Wise; and her sister, Lynnette Besenhofer.
She is survived by a son, J. Norman Brandley, Jr. (Linda), of Huntsville; grandchildren, Rebecca A. Bradley, of Arvada, Colorado, M. Brock Bradley (Emily), of Seattle, Jessica Bradley Wiseman (Matt), of Memphis, Tess A. Bradley, of Bat Cave, NC, Gabriel N. Bradley, of Asheville, NC; and great-grandsons, Miles, Owen, and Jude Bradley.
Jean was a good-natured woman with a sweet disposition who always thought of the needs and comfort of others before her own.
The family is grateful for the special care Jean received in her final days from Hospice Family Care, Right at Home, and above all from the staff and residents of Elmcroft of Byrd Springs, where she lived.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m., with the Reverend Mac Buttram officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntsville Madison County Veterans Memorial (www.huntsvilleveteransmemorial.org).
