Herman G. Lansdell, 82, died Thursday, July 14, at his home after an extended illness. He was born May 11, 1934. His funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Jackson Memory Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. just prior to his funeral.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Euphia Lansdell, of Town Creek; a sister, Winford Williams; and a son, Edward Lansdell.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Lansdell, of Town Creek; two daughters, Kathy Willwood (Steve) and Beth Lovelady, both of Town Creek; one grandson, Matthew Lovelady (Savannah), of Hatton; and one brother-in-law, Walton Blanton, of Tuscumbia; and his nieces and nephews. He served his country in the U.S. Army in 1952 during the Korean War. He loved spending his time with his family for cook outs.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Slayton, Dale Grimes, Robert Dobbs, Dewayne Tippett, Douglas Hill, and Chad Ford. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice of Florence.
