Leonard-Perkins-1468357258Leonard Perkins, 83 of Arab, Alabama, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Perkins was born June 8, 1933 in Marshall County, Alabama to Andy Perkins and Lizzie Willis Perkins. He grew up in Union Grove and lived there most of his life. He worked for Automatic Sprinkler- Montesano Mountain, Marshall County District one, and for Union Grove Schools as a custodian where he later retired. He enjoyed fishing, camping, getting together with family and friends, attending Church and playing gospel music on his guitar. He was married to the former Geraldine Shannon for 62 years.
Mr. Perkins was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine S. Perkins; daughter: Geraldine Marie Hayes Teets; grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn and Terry Mooneyham, Christopher Shannon Hayes and Hollie Lowe; great grandchildren: Cody Daniel Hayes, Zachary Mooneyham, America LeeAnn Hayes, Abbey Renea Mooneyham; sister: Jessie Lee Salters. He was preceded in death by his parents: Andy and Lizzie Perkins; brothers: William Martin “Buddy” Perkins, Earmon Joe Perkins; sisters: Mattie Lou Dearmond, Ruby Reno, Verlice Ditto, Tempie Smallwood, Edna Beardin, Ola Bailey and his Special Angel, “Little Red” Amanda Joe Bailey.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Harvell, officiating. Burial in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Hayes, Billy Maddux, Zachary Mooneyham, Sidney Garner, Lamar Slaton and Mark Morrow.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Wednesday July 13, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Marshall County – Shepherds Cove, for their kindness and heartfelt care for our family.
