Two Arrested In Two Days For Passing Counterfeit Money

DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department made arrests of two suspect on consecutive days for passing counterfeit money at local businesses in Decatur:

“During the early part of July of 2016 Officers with the Uniformed Patrol Division began taking reports of counterfeit money being passed throughout businesses in the City of Decatur. Detective Demetrius Hightower and Detective Byron Williams were assigned to the cases. During the investigation, a subject later identified as Kenneth Roden was captured on video surveillance passing some of the counterfeit monies that consisted of $100.00 bills, $20.00 bills, and $5.00 bills. Through further investigation, it was determined that Joey Early was also involved in passing counterfeit money.
On July 7th, 2016 Early was immediately apprehended by the Decatur Police Department’s

Uniformed Patrol Division prior to leaving the business Hardees located at 816 6th Avenue NE. Early was transported to the Decatur Police Department where he was subsequently charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 1st Degree. Early’s bond was set at$5,000.00
On July 8th, 2016 Roden was located by the Community Resource Unit and he was transported to the Decatur Police Department on a misdemeanor warrant not pertaining to the investigation. Roden was subsequently charged with 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 1st Degree. Roden’s bond was set at $5,000.00 for each charge for a total bond of $20,000.00. The businesses that Roden passed counterfeit bills were at Waffle House located at 817 Northeast, Mapco located at 1126 6th Avenue Southeast, and Dave’s Barber Shop located at 1117 6th Avenue Southeast.

Early was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $5,000.00 Bond.
Roden will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 total bond, after he satisfies his misdemeanor charge with the city.”
