Martha “Allison” Hooie Lewis Allred went to be with our Lord on July 4, 2016. Born in Jasper, AL she lived in Athens, AL during her childhood through her middle adult years. She then resided in Birmingham, AL, Dallas, TX and Meridianville, AL before returning to Athens. She is a 1956 graduate of Athens, AL.
Martha “Allison” was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Allred, her parents, Eugene and Nee Archie Hooie, a sister, Wanda Sue Hooie and one grandson, Justin Camp.
A sweetheart to everyone she met, Martha Allison was much like her beloved butterflies, and she was gracefully flying about from one project to the next. She found tremendous joy and comfort with and walking her dogs, Zeebo and Zoey. Like her butterflies one always felt the beauty of her presence and her colorful infectious enthusiasm for life. Martha “Allison” had a continuing penchant for learning. She enjoyed a wide variety of music, Vintage movies and reading and a skilled seamstress. Her talents included an unequivocal eye for interior and exterior decorating, acrylic and watercolor painting and being one with nature with her plants and flowers. She was always ready with a hug for everyone she met and expressed her “love, love” for us all. Martha Allison was a member of First Baptist in Athens.
She is survived by 3 sons, Joe Glenn Lewis, Jr. (Christy) of Midland, TX, Earl Lewis of Toney, AL and Darryl Lewis (Karen) of Athens, AL, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Martha Allison’s final wishes were for there to be no memorial services, only to be remembered as she was in the physical body.
