James Harlow Wood of Town Creek went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the age of 79. He died at ECM hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Roy Wood; his beloved son, James Anthony Wood; and his precious granddaughter, Hannah Marie Wood.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mae Grissom Wood; his daughter, Anne Wood Behel (Corey); daughter-in-law, Debbie Wood; granddaughters, Sara Gipson, Sidney Gipson, Emily Wood, Olivia Wood, Carly Behel, Camryn Behel; great-granddaughter, Vivian Grace; sister, Faye Wood Hill; brother-in-law, Bennie Grissom and wife, Kay; sister-in-law, Lurlene Langston and many loving nieces and nephews.
Arrangements will be handled by Jackson Funeral Home, Town Creek. Visitation will be today, July 1, from noon to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Town Creek. The service will be at the church at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Town Creek.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Smith, Steve Grissom, Dwight Beene, Roger Hill, Lilbern Beaver and Billy Bankston. Honorary pallbearers will be his remaining lifelong friends.
Mr. Wood retired from Ford Motor Company and enjoyed working in his garden and years ago, tending to his cattle in the pastures. He dearly loved his family, especially his granddaughters. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Town Creek.
