LEXINGTON-The Northwest Alabama Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council gave $1,500.00 to the Town of Lexington to place a new wrought iron fence around the new Veteran’s Memorial in A.L. Phillips Park. According to Town of Lexington Clerk Jennifer Hendershot, the fence will add beautification to the memorial. “The memorial is open for everyone to see and also place a memorial or honor brick for any military member,” said Hendershot. The total cost of the project was $2,500.00, and it was completed in June 2016.
The Northwest AL RC&D Council promotes beautification of parks and memorials, as it promotes community spirit and tourism. The Council also expressed appreciation to the local legislators who represent Lexington well and provide support for the RC&D in the state legislature.
