MaryMrs. Mary G. Maturo is now with the Lord and her beloved husband of 52 years, Philip J. Maturo. She was a great warrior during her long illness inspiring her family, friends, and caregivers with her strong Catholic faith and courage. She had resided in Huntsville, AL since 1968, relocating from Chicago, IL with her family. Mary was a Registered Nurse and worked at Huntsville Hospital and the Madison County Health Department (retired in 1992). Her passion and favorite activity was working outdoors landscaping her yard. Mary had a green thumb and never met a plant she couldn’t coax to grow. Above all, she was a proud American and always ready with an opinion about current political events.
Mary is survived by three children, Michelle B. Maturo, Gregg P. Maturo, and Scott C. Maturo (wife Lisa), and one granddaughter, Adrienne M. Sloan. They are blessed to have had a Mother with boundless energy and strength of character. She encouraged a strong work ethic and insisted that education was the path to an independent future.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in her memory to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens or the American Cancer Society.
