Wendell Dan “Danny” Blankenship, 73, of Mount Hope passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at his residence. He was born June 19, 1943.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Blankenship; children, Laura Walker (Mikey) and Dawn Brown (Patrick); grandchildren, Ashley Walker, Michael Walker, Hunter Brown and Daniel Brown; great-granddaughter, Kolbie Grace Walker; mother, Annie Lou Crumpton; brothers, Willard “Buddy” Blankenship, Anthony Blankenship and Steve Blankenship; sister, Peggy Chapman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Blankenship and one brother, Jerry Lee Blankenship.

The family will receive friends from today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastors Patti Woodruff and Jan McCarver officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Methodist Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Walker, Hunter Brown, Daniel Brown, Brian Blankenship, Barry Blankenship, Kelly Blankenship and Timmy Blankenship.

The family extends their thanks to the staffs of Lawrence County Home Health, Hospice of the Valley and Southern Hospitality. Special thanks are given to Danny’s caretaker, Regina Shipley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Hope Methodist Community Cemetery, 229 Co. Rd. 313, Mt. Hope, AL 35651.
