Earl P. Montgomery, 81, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park. Flowers are appreciated or memorial donations may be made to your local church.
Mr. Montgomery was born on August 24, 1934 in Decatur, Alabama to John David Homer Montgomery and Annie Viola Prater Montgomery. He was a hard worker and a proud veteran of the US Navy having retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 26 years, two months, and 12 days. He was also a founding member of Madeira Baptist Church in Orange Park.
Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard R. Montgomery. He is survived by five children, Shelia R. Martin, Scarlet A. Mikell, Timothy E. Montgomery, David D. Montgomery, and Sandra D. McMichael; three siblings, Jack C. Montgomery, Patty J. Atherton, and Paul D. Montgomery; a sister-in-law, Barbara W. Montgomery; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Shirley F. Montgomery.
