Melissa H. Scott, 53, passed away on Saturday, June 4th after an extended illness. She was a retired school teacher and a homemaker. She was born August 2, 1962 to Barbara and Henry DeVan Hodges of Nettleton. She was a resident of Belden, and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
Services will be held Monday, June 6th at 1:00pm at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo, with private family graveside service at Scott Cemetery in Belden. Visitation will be today (Sunday) from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service on Monday.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Jeff Scott (Belden), one son, Payne Scott (Belden), and one daughter, Bailey Scott (Belden). One sister, Angela Dee Webb (Tupelo), one brother, Henry DeVan Hodges, II (Nettleton), Aunt and Uncle, Sam and Patricia Kilpatrick (Tupelo), her in-laws, Joe and Betty Scott (Belden), Lisa Rish and family (Belden), Traci Oosting and Family (Atlanta,GA), and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, an aunt and uncle.
Pallbearers will be Sam Kilpatrick, Tim Webb, Perry Dillehay, Joe Peters, Dan Payne, and Butch Douglas.
