Sonja Tackett – Obituary

sonjaSonja Tackett, 91, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Amory. She was born February 22, 1925, in Kiev, Ukraine, to Paul and Helen Pavlenko. Having endured the hardships of World War II in a labor camp, she was extremely grateful and proud to be an American. She enjoyed flower gardening and loved all animals. Her granddaughters were her greatest joy.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Dempsey Rowland and Bro. James Young officiating. Burial will be in the Gilvo Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Hall (Jimmy) of Mantachie; two sons, Joseph Michajlak (Pam) of Silver Lake, Wisconsin, and Stephen Michajlak (Gurdy) of Racine, Wisconsin; and two granddaughters, Jessica Hall and Megan Hall, both of Mantachie.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Michajlak and Jessie Lee Tackett, and her parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the funeral home.
