“Babe” Ernest Edward Blackstock, age 81, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, Alabama. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Greenview Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Estelle Smith Blackstock; brother, William Lance Blackstock; sister, Nelda Rouse; and son-in-law, Karl A. Kachelman.
Babe is survived by his wife, Ann Frederick Blackstock; daughter, Sylvann Blackstock Kachelman; son, Eric Blackstock (Kristi); brother, James “Bud” Blackstock (Ann); sister-in-law, Cindy Blackstock; grandchildren, Laura Kachelman (fiancée Jake Cosby), Alan Kachelman, Jessi Blackstock Tidwell (Trey), Erica Blackstock, Stephen Kachelman, and Cole Blackstock.
Babe retired from Ford Motor Company as a brick mason. He was the owner of Beacon Construction, Alabama Ram Jack, and other small businesses. Babe was a life member of the Cahaba Shrine Temple, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Florence York Rite Masonic Bodies, and a member of the Muscle Shoals Shrine Club. He was also a lifetime member of the Florence Elks Lodge 820 and a member of Florence Moose Lodge.
