Billy Joe Grooms, 83, of Loretto, TN, passed away May 12, 2016 after a brief illness. Mr. Grooms was retired from Loretto Casket Company as the Paint Room Supervisor and was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of American Legion Post #146 and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Loretto, TN.
Mr. Groom is survived by wife Lottie Johnson Grooms; daughters Vicki Boston (Terry) & Kathie Dean (Charles) of Loretto; brothers Gentry “Jim” Grooms of St. Joseph and Waylon Grooms of Arkansas; sisters Reba Cates, Jane LaRoache, and Paulette Grooms; grandchildren Jennifer Short, Casey Purser, and Wesley Dean; and (8) Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Frank Grooms and Annie Belle Waters Grooms and sisters Lois Weaver and Arvena Grooms.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 5-8:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Steve Headrick officiating. Burial will be in Old Loretto Cemetery with full military honors.
