Zelma-Garrett-1463157426 Zelma Walker Garrett, “Zel,”of Tuscumbia, Alabama, 87, passed away from her life on the eleventh day of May 2016, with her family by her side.
She was a sweet loving woman who devoted all of her time to her family. She was a mother, wife, and a business partner of Edward S. Garrett Sr. She was a Christian and active in the church for most of her life.
The funeral service for Zelma W. Garrett will be at First Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama, where she was a member for many years. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., and the funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016. The Reverend Ted Vafeas will officiate the service.
Zelma W. Garrett was born November 19, 1928, in Clinton, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Garrett Sr., her father, Ernest Walker Sr., and her mother, Florence Walker.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny G. Klyce and her husband Mike; son, Edward S. Garrett Jr. “Sam” and his wife Elizabeth; brother, Ernest Walker Jr. “Sonny”; grandchildren, Michael Klyce (Tonia) and Jennifer Hatcher (Jason); great grandchildren, Lakin Hatcher, Maddie Hatcher, Will Klyce, and Katelyn Klyce.
Pallbearers will be Michael Klyce, Will Klyce, Jason Hatcher, Jimmy Grisham, Joe Knight, and Mike Hand.
The family would like to thank First Baptist Church and Highland Park Baptist Church, as well as their friends, for their prayers and visits.
