ROGERSVILLE, TN-The Amber Alert for 9-year-old Carlie Trent has extended into Missouri.
Tuesday, Cooper County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office issued an Amber Alert for Trent, who became the subject of a Tennessee Amber Alert on May 5.
Investigators in Missouri said Trent may have been spotted in Otterville, Missouri on May 9. Because this investigation now spans multiple states, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has gotten involved.
Earlier Thursday, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released new surveillance video of 9-year-old Trent. She is believed to be with her uncle, Gary Simpson. Simpson picked her up from school under false pretenses Wednesday.
After Simpson picked her up, the two went to a Save-A-Lot grocery store in Rogersville, Tennessee. That’s where the two were captured on surveillance camera.
In the video, Simpson is seen purchasing piles of non-perishable foods, drinks, and large quantities of toilet paper.
Simpson previously had custody of Carlie, but custody was recently given to her biological father. The change was so recent that the school did not yet have records of the custodial change.
They are believed to be in a remote area, traveling in a 2002 Dodge conversion van with TN license plate 173GPS.
A $15,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Carlie’s safe return.
If you believe you know where Carlie or Simpson may be, call Rogersville Police Department at (423) 272-7555 or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
