Steve Lawrence Hill, 60, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at his residence. He was born June 22, 1955, in Limestone County. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his father, Leon Hill.
Mr Hill is survived by his mother, Shirley Ann Davis Hill; one daughter, Jamie Hill-Walters and husband, Rupert Walters, of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Pam Ennis and husband, Paul, of Athens; and nephew, Matthew Ennis.
Services for Mr. Hill will be Friday, May 6, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Dorning and Jeff May officiating. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Matthew Ennis, Paul Ennis, Rupert Walters, Brandon Downs, D.W. Daws and Sonny Harvey. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Hill, Jerry Hill, Melvin Workman, Steve Carpenter and Carl Fowler.
Mr. Hill was the owner of The Bargain Jungle Home Furnishing Store in Athens for 22 years. He was a 19-year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 48, and served as a draftsman in his last four years. In addition, he was an accomplished artist in the mediums of oil painting, metal sculpting and a drawing illustrator.
