Alice Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Farrar Hall, age 96 passed away Tuesday morning May 3, 2016 at The Lodge Retirement Home in Nashville, TN.
She was born and reared in Dyer, TN in Gibson County, the daughter of the late Dewitt Granville and Inez Corrine Pierce Farrar. She graduated Dyer High School in 1938 and graduated from Freed-Hardeman College in 1940. She married John Hall that same year. They made their home in Henderson, where her husband owned and operated Halls Poultry. She was very active in the Freed-Hardeman Associates and was a long time member of the Henderson Church of Christ while living in Henderson. After moving to Nashville she was a member of the Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, John M. Hall of Nashville; a son, John Robert Hall and wife Freda of Jackson; two daughters, Carole Hall McDonald of Nashville and Beth Hall Parnell and husband Ron of Springdale, AR; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and also a brother, Ralph Byron Farrar of Oakridge.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William D. Farrar.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ in Nashville with Chris Smith and James Vandiver officiating. Graveside services will be 4:00 PM Saturday May 7, 2016 at Henderson City Cemetery with Billy Smith and David Powell officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the Harpeth Hills Church.
