Marvalene James Coats, 86, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Helen Keller Hospital, Sheffield, Alabama. She was born in Franklin County, Alabama to Johnnie Simon James and Claudie Cleo Shewbart James. She had worked as a supervisor at Blue Bell and was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.
Services will be Sunday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church, Vina, Alabama, with Brother Danny Stanford officiating. Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery, Vina, Alabama. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are two children, Ronald Coats (Janet), Hodges, Alabama, and Debra Evans, Burnout; six grandchildren, Ronnie Joe Kennedy (Jill), Karen Evans (Gabrielle), Johnnie Coats (Marilyn), Natalie Skoumbros (Mike), Juliana Inman (Andy), and Rebecca Peden (Kirby); 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Houston James; and two sisters, Martha Oliver and Barbara Collum (Forby).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Coats; her parents; and a sister, Christine Townsend.
Pallbearers will be Jerry James, Terry James, Richard Townsend, Tommy Townsend, Kevin Townsend, and Todd James.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 24, 1-2 p.m., at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.
