   ART CLASSES AT TENNESSEE VALLEY ART

JOIN US THIS SUMMER AT THE TENNESSEE VALLEY OF ART

 Art Classes – ages 8 -12, ages 13 – 16, and ages 16 – 20
Ages: 8 -12
Dates: MondayThursday, July 11 – 14, 2016

Adventures in Art: Exploring Collage and Resist by Barb Hendricks
This course will explore a variety of visual art media as the students create collage and water-based paint resist projects. We will look at the work of Matisse, Picasso, and the Impressionists to learn more about the process and historic use of collage and resist.Exploration of Tactile & Visual Textures by Pam Wright
Inspired by the work of author/illustrator Eric Carle, young artists will turn ordinary paper into a variety of tactile and visual textures using an assortment of materials and methods that will then be used to recreate works of art…with many fun surprises along the way!

Fees: both classes
TVAA members – $100
Non-members – $120
All art supplies are included.

S.T.E.A.M. Power by Jaceena Shepard
Young artists will spend four afternoons with Jaceena Shepard, a nationally known and award winning Art Instructor, to visualize and create a water media painting.  Students will explore the design process from conception to execution while applying science, technology, engineering and math related techniques to their artistic endeavor.  Art techniques used in this process will inspire young artists to look at their world in a new way.Fees:
TVAA members – $65
Non-members – $85
All art supplies are included.

Foundations of Drawing by Martha Carpenter
Foundation Drawing is an introduction to drawing as a basic practice that underlies all visual art making.  Students will investigate the basic elements of visual language (including mark, line, gesture, contour, edge, value, form, volume, mass, density  proportion, scale linear perspective, order pattern, rhythm, texture, and the illusion of space) through a series of observations and exercises. Emphasis is placed on drawing from observation.  There will be discussion about how S.T.E.A.M. integrates with the visual arts.Fee:

Non-members – $65
All art supplies are included.

S.T.E.A.M. Camp: has a visual arts focus with explanation as to how science,technology, engineering and mathematics integrate with the visual arts.
