Douglas-Gann-1461151948Douglas Oliver Gann, 84, of Phil Campbell, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Haleyville Health Care.

Mr. Gann was a native of Moundville, Alabama, but had lived most of his life in this area. He was a member of the Phil Campbell Church of Christ and was retired from Reynolds Metals. He served on the Phil Campbell Industrial Board.

Mr. Gann was also retired from the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Driver Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), four Overseas Service Bars, Army Commendation Medal (first Oak Leaf Cluster), seven Service Stripes, and four Good Conduct Medals.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Blue Springs Cemetery, Phil Campbell. Officiating will be Sammy Taylor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

He is survived by wife, Evelyn MaeLynn Gann; children, Rita Lynn Gann Barton and Byron Douglas Gann; sister, Wanna Graben; grandchildren, Chris Barton (Tennille) and Kevin Barton (Sarha); great-grandchildren, Tierney Barton, Kara Barton, Autumn Barton and Oliver Barton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Acklin and Nettie Gann; sisters, Elva Lou Markham, Gloria White, Opal Markham, Jane Estes, Myrtle and Parks; brothers, Linwood Gann, Martin Gann and Milton Gann.

Pallbearers will be Chris Barton, Kevin Barton, Jason Stancil, Ronnie Kennedy, Andy Hines and Ricky Kennedy.
