Mrs. Evelyn Berryman Bassham, age 83, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. with the 2 p.m. funeral in the chapel on Thursday, with interment to follow in Florence City Cemetery. Brother Jim Lumpkin and Brother Nick McSpadden will be officiating. Mrs. Bassham was born in Florence, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents. Frank and Ethel Benefield Cassel; brothers, Willie, WT, and JD Cassel; sisters, Ida Lemley and Mable Rome; son, Herbert “Odell” Berryman; and great-grandson, Blake Bozeman.
She is survived by husband, Lonnie Bassham; sons, Geary Wayne “Buddy” (Charlene) Berryman and Billy (Vickie) Berryman; and daughters, Mildred (Larry) McCrory and Barbara (Gary) Cummings. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons O’Neal and Donald Berryman, Brett and Brian Hall, Shane and Derek McCrory, Chris Mitchell, and Dewayne Cox.
Mrs. Evelyn was a member of Grace Baptist and retired from Oak Crest Nursing Home where she enjoyed caring for others. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Russellville Health Care for the care given to our dear loved one. Akins Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
