Peggy Thomas Porter, 82 of Killen, died Friday at ECM Hospital. Mrs. Porter was born March 25, 1934, in Lawrence County, Tennessee. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to everyone. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Killen.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Spry-Williams Funeral Home, with Terry Thomas officiating, with burial in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. today at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. Mrs. Porter’s nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family requests memorials to be made to the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Fund.
Mrs. Porter is survived by daughters, Susan (Jay) Crew, of Killen, Alabama, Sharon (Greg) Spry, of Athens, Alabama, Kelly (Rusty) Graham, of Florence, Alabama, Holly Porter, of Athens, Alabama; granddaughters, Jessica Crew and fiance’, Paul McPeters, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Aubrey Spry, of Nashville, Tennessee, Macy Spry, of Auburn, Alabama, and Caroline Graham, of Florence, Alabama; brothers, Morris R. (Gerry) Thomas of Killen, Alabama, Melvin (Dottie) Thomas, of Leoma, Tennessee; sister, Eloise Yeager, of Florence, Alabama; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Clyde and Virtel Beecham Thomas, and husband, Archie P. Porter.
