James Woodson White, 73, died Monday at his residence. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Cemetery with Lynn Greer and Tommy Heaps officiating. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Spry Funeral Home in Athens. Mr. White was born July 5, 1942, in Lauderdale County to Thomas and Verta White. He graduated from Lauderdale County High School, and he was a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in electrical engineering and worked for Unisys Corp. in Virginia for 35 years. Mr. White was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include son, James White Jr., of Los Angeles, California; niece, Vicky White, of Chicago, Illinois; special cousins, Doris Nugent, of Rogersville, and Sammy and Sidney Whitehead, of Florence; and special friend, Chief. Special thanks to caregivers Dianne Smith, LeAnna Carcage, Davie Smith, Lisa Poss, and Dianne Nickles.
He was preceded in death by brother, Gerald White; sister-in-law, Louise White; and nephew, Jerry White.
