Bonnie “Marie” Wood Beachum – Obituary

Ms. Bonnie “Marie” Wood Beachum, 94, passed from this life on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Reed House, Methodist Senior Services, Tupelo Campus after a long prosperous life. She was born August 18, 1921 to A.M. Wood and Roxie McCullough Wood. She married William Beachum in 1939 and they were married 48 years before his death in 1987. Marie attended Itawamba Junior College (ICC) where she earned her associate degree in nursing. She partnered with her husband, Bill, in the owning and operating of Beachum’s Store, a longtime trademark in the New Chapel Community of Itawamba County. Later in her adult life she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, employed by North MS Medical Center for many years, mostly located at the Bella Vista Unit. She was a kind, gentle lady with a giving heart and was a caregiver to many individuals. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and former member of New Chapel Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
A celebration of her life and home-going will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her grandson-in-law, Rev. Chris O’Daniel officiating. Private burial will follow at New Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 noon to service time. Condolences may be e-mailed to hollandfuneraldirectors@comcast.net.
She is survived by her three sons, Billy Beachum of Tupelo, Jim Beachum and his wife, Jencie of Belden, and Bob Beachum and his wife, Anita of Memphis, TN; one sister, Evelyn Randle of Nacogdoches, TX; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Beachum, Curtis Beachum, Chris Beachum, Amy O’Daniel, Andy Beachum, Jeff Beachum, and Lana Beachum, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Jewel Hood; eight brothers, Carl, Audley, Milton, Wallace, D.C., Ralph, Richard, and Robert.
