Georgia June Wilson Pendergrass, 77, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, formerly of Tuscumbia, AL.

Georgia was born on December 3, 1938 in Primera, TX to Arthur Leo and Leora Augusta Wilson. She grew up and attended schools in Harlingen before moving to Alabama to raise her family. While attending Harlingen High School, Georgia was a Majorette in the band. She later attended cosmetology school and obtained a Cosmetology Degree. On May 27, 1955 Georgia married, Robert Lee Pendergrass, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2005 after fifty years of marriage.

Georgia was a founding member of the Christ The King Lutheran Church in Tuscumbia, AL where she lived for many years, before moving back to Harlingen. She also was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harlingen and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League for many years. For the past 5 years, Georgia had made her home at the Golden Palms Retirement & Health Center also in Harlingen.

Georgia is survived by a sons, Bobby (Susan) Pendergrass of Tuscumbia, AL and Raymond (Gina) Pendergrass of Mobile, AL; daughter, Roxanna (Bob) Plouff of Minneapolis, MN; five grandchildren, Caleb ( Millicent) and Seth Pendergrass, Alex, Abby, and Andrew Plouff; sisters; Marilyn (Guy) Anderson of Harlingen and Mina Lee Gallaway (Steve McFarland) also of Harlingen; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Georgia’s life was held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harlingen, 3:00 PM, Friday, March 25, 2016 with Rev. Nathan Wendorf officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Colbert Memorial Chapel, Monday March 28, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 with a graveside to follow at 11:00am in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Charles Schaum.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Christ the King Lutheran Church, at P.O. Box 2013 Muscle Shoals, AL 35662.

Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
