Verlon Lee Culver, 81, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at NMMC in Tupelo. She was born March 5, 1935 to the late William Marvin Crowder and the late Mary Wilson Crowder. She graduated with honors from Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1953. She moved to Zion, IL and worked as a supervisor at Abbott Laboratories in Chicago. She married William Curtis Culver on November 19, 1955. After they returned to her hometown, she was a homemaker and a member of Fulton Church of God of Prophecy for almost 50 years. In recent years, she had worked in the dietary department at The Meadows. She enjoyed flowers, reading, sewing, crafting, and spending time with her family. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Services will be at 11:00 am, March 22, 2016 at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Winters officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm tonight, Monday, March 21, 2016.
Survivors include her Daughters: Tanya (Gary) Scott of Belden, MS, and Melinda (Michael Martin) Lyons of Mantachie, MS; Grandson, Kevin Scott of Birmingham, AL; Granddaughters: Courtney (Stephen) Spencer of Saltillo and Miranda Mayhall of Mantachie; Great-grandsons: Curtis Gilliam and Cooper Spencer; Great-granddaughter, Rachel Spencer; Sisters: Wilma Funderburk and Audrey Watts both of Red Bay, and Elinor McCollister of Muscle Shoals; sister-in-law, Elois Crowder of Red Bay; also a host of Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Curtis Culver; Daughter, Melissa Culver; Brothers: W.T. and Ray Crowder; Sister, Willard Brown.
Pallbearers are Kevin Scott, Stephen Spencer, Billy Joe Ewing, Jack Gunter, Rolon Barnes, and Wade Winters.
