Huntsville, Ala., Company to Be Honored at Annual Small Business Summit

lean-frog-logoWASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today recognized LEAN Frog Business Solutions, Inc. as one of seven regional finalists for its annual DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Sam’s Club®. As the Southeast regional finalist, LEAN Frog distinguished itself from other Blue Ribbon Small Business Award® winners in the region as a highly successful enterprise with strong, meaningful ties to its customers and community.

“It’s not easy to be a small business today, but that has not deterred companies like LEAN Frog from striving for and achieving success,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “American small businesses, and especially these finalists, demonstrate the traits that have made our economy the envy of the world – the ability to innovate, take risks, work hard, and dream big. The Chamber is proud to honor these outstanding companies as examples of what can be achieved in a free enterprise system.”

Led by Byron and Sherri Headrick, a husband-and-wife team, LEAN Frog Business Solutions, Inc., uses LEAN Six Sigma (LSS) principles to help public schools 11393198_974322069268735_1825949268259981123_nimprove student services and optimize operations. Seeing a need for organizations to do more with less, especially those within the public education system, Byron and Sherri founded LEAN Frog with the goal of increasing efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability in school systems, and ultimately, transforming public education. Huntsville, Alabama-based LEAN Frog employs 18 full-time staff in two offices, has impacted over 230,000 students, and has saved school systems over $80 million to date.

The Chamber will recognize all 100 DREAM BIG Blue Ribbon Award winners, including the regional finalists, at America’s Small Business Summit, which will take place June 13–15 in Washington, D.C.

During the summit, one small business from among the regional finalists will receive the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Sam’s Club®, and a $10,000 cash prize courtesy of the U.S. Chamber. The award will honor one small business that has proven itself exceptional in the areas of strategic planning, employee development, customer service, and community involvement.

All DREAM BIG Blue Ribbon Small Business Award® winners are also eligible for the Community Excellence Award, which will recognize one business that has found notable success in the eyes of its community. The winner of that award, decided through online public voting, will also be announced during America’s Small Business Summit.
