Maurice Wayne Barksdale age 68 of Athens, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Barksdale was born October 27, 1947 in Limestone County, AL to Maurice Barksdale and Donna Hudson Barksdale.
Services will be Thursday, March 17, 2016 11:00 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Scott Richardson and Wayne Kuykendall officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Barksdale served his country as a medic in the United States Army during the height of the Vietnam War. Though the ghost of Vietnam plagued him through the years with severe PTSD that clouded his life he continued to seek God with all of his heart
Preceded in death by his father, William Maurice Barksdale.
Survived by his wife, Cheryl Barksdale; one daughter, Jessica Bradley; two grandchildren, Robert Bradley and Eli Bradley; mother, Donna Hudson Barksdale; one brother, Mark Barksdale and wife, Dyanne; one sister, Terry Banta and husband, Dwight; several nieces and nephews.
