ETOWAH COUNTY-A Gadsden woman has been arrested for chemical endangerment of a child, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“Corrie Maree Biggar, 34, of Gadsden, was arrested and is charged with chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony,” investigator Brandi Fuller said.
Biggar admitted to illegally using methamphetamine a week before giving birth and taking pain medication, Norco, one day before the delivery of her baby. Biggar tested positive for methamphetamine and the pain medication. Her baby tested positive for methamphetamine, opiates and marijuana.
Biggar is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond. As a condition of the bond, she must successfully complete a treatment program upon release and will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections. She is also being held on a failure to appear warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
