Funeral service for Hilda Roye Brown age 91 of Decatur, will be Monday, March 14, 2016, at 4 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Blass officiating .The Family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service . Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown who died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Summerford Nursing Home, was born December 6, 1924 in Ponotoc MS, to Jesse L. Roye and Ina Stegall.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband J.C. Brown and son Dwight J. Brown Sr. and great-granddaughter Kim Freeman.
Mrs. Brown is survived by daughter; Marilyn Brown Hagen and husband Mike of Decatur; Daughter-in-law Darla Brown; Brother, Gideon Roye; four grandchildren, Michael Hagen, Melanie Hagen, Jay Brown and Adam Brown all of Decatur; ten great-grandchildren; Justin Hagen, Mary Abigail Hagen, Tripp Hagen, Alex Petty, Wilson Hagen, Sam Hagen, Conner Brown, Whitt Brown, Amelia Brown, and Allie Brown; three great-great-grandchildren Grace Hagen; Jackson Hagen and K.P. Petty all of Decatur.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Central Baptist Church and formally taught Sunday school. She was a member of Stephens Chapter DAR. UDC and Colonial Dames, Eastern Star and the Gideon’s Axillary. She was also a member of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce Mrs. Brown and her husband Started Brown’s Fabric of Decatur 1964 and worked in the business several years before retiring. She was on the Board for Calhoun Community College Foundation.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
