Jerry King, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Services will be Saturday, March 5, 2016, at noon in the chapel. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Jimmy Bradford will be officiating.
He was the husband to Debby Wesson King.
Jerry loved his fishing, mostly bass fishing. That was his passion for years. He was the most generous, giving person you would ever meet, and he never met a stranger. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years as a certified welder and machine repairman and served seven years in the National Guard with an honorable discharge. Jerry attended Russellville High School followed by Calhoun Community College Tech for two years.
Mr. King was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Alma King, Russellville, Alabama; brother, Jack “Bubba” King and David King; and sisters, Emma Vincent, Sue Ann Williams, and Jessie “Sissy” Fuller.
Survivors are wife of 49 plus years, Debby Wesson King; daughters, Hope Mangum and Holly King; grandchildren, Sloan Davis Kirby, Mick Mangum, Jack Mangum, Hunter Morgan, and Brennan King; great-grandson, Aiden and Cullen Kirby; and sister, Martha “Mot” Evans.
Pallbearers are Jim, Mick, Jack Mangum, Gary Irons, Bill Davis, and Andrew Phillips. Honorary will be Devinn Kirby.
Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
