Kathleen Cannon Anderson, one so precious to her family, passed away Thursday at the age of 91. To God be the Glory and to the Lord Jesus Christ be the Victory!
Kathleen lived a life that was richly blessed and she counted her blessings every day. From her upbringing in the small town of Fayette, to her college years at the University of Alabama, and finally with her family and friends in Huntsville, Kathleen was among people she loved and cherished all of her life. Her sorority sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta met on occasion into their later years.
Although her aptitude test from Fayette County High School said she should have been a farmer, Kathleen graduated with honors from the University of Alabama with a Master’s Degree in mathematics. She did, however, end up cultivating the love and knowledge of learning in her students as the first math instructor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and later at Alabama A & M University where she tilled the minds of students until the age of 70.
Kathleen also took delight in creating a pretty home and garden. She so enjoyed sharing her love of gardening with fellow members of the Huntsville Garden Club. She also enjoyed the comradery of membership in the Grace Club Auxiliary and the Grace Club.
Kathleen was also blessed with good health and her family wants to thank Dr. Brian Roberts for taking good care of her with such kindness and compassion.
Most of all Kathleen thanked Jesus for her family – her husband Mitt, her children Claudia and Andy, and her parents Claude and Rosalie Cannon. All except her children pre-deceased her, including a brother who died in infancy. She was looking forward to that great getting up morning when we shall all meet again.
A graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 28th, with Dr. Murray Wilton officiating.
