scam alertRUSSELLVILLE-The Russellville Police released a statement concerning a door-to-door scam in Russellville:

“Russellville Police Investigators wish to make our local businesses aware of a possible scam that has been occurring the past few days. A W/M suspect has been approaching some of our local business owners attempting to sell some type insurance to them. The suspect tells the business owners that it would protect them from their taxes being increased, or it would double their protection against any personal property losses. The suspect is also using other local business owners names as references, or using current business names, stating that business has already joined this group. This is NOT TRUE. The suspect will then ask for payment ranging from $50 to $1000 and request immediate payment. When asked for a business card, or literature about the insurance, the suspect can’t, or will not produce either. The suspect will also be very aggressive in attempting to conduct an immediate transaction. Any business owner that is approached by this individual is asked to please immediately contact Russellville Police Department at 256-332-2230.”
