Elwanta Audene Burns Emmons, 83, of Sheffield, Passed away February 7, 2016. Her visitation will be Monday, February 8th from 6 pm until 8 pm at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Tuesday, February 9th at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Don McGuyer officiating. Burial will follow in Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery.
Elwanta retired from Sheffield Housing Authority with 44 years of service. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth Burns; husband, Charles Emmons; sister, Roalia Burns; and brother, Walter James Burns, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, LaWanda and Greg Lowery; granddaughters, Laura Stanley, Sarah Stanley, and Gracie Lowery; sister and brother in law, Wanda and Don McGuyer; niece and husband, Tawanna and Thomas King; brother in law, Oneal Woods; sister in law, Patsy Emmons Murray; and special great nieces and nephews, Riley and Raegan Rickard, Kelsey, Ian, Molly, and Rece King.
Pallbearers will be Carl Roden, Billy Ray Richardson, Danny Jo Puckett, Thomas King, Jared King, and Patrick Berry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Rickard, Rece King, Ian King, and Oneal Woods.
