Funeral for James David Vanderford, 74, of Moulton, will be Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel, with Jonathan Layman and Charles Dickens officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Vanderford died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at his residence. He was born Aug. 9, 1941, in Alcorn County, Mississippi, to Lester Vanderford and Lila V. Tolar Vanderford. James was a farm hand and then a carpenter for 50 years. James loved to work on homes for people. He loved to work in his garden and do woodworking. He also loved to show antique tractors at tractor shows. He was a lifetime member of the local Tractor Club. His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Iola Heflin Vanderford; one son, Dwight Vanderford (Glenda), of Moulton; three great-grandsons, Dylan Strickland, Blake Strickland and Brayden James Strickland; one brother, William Vanderford (Katie), of Moulton; and one sister, Alene Wright (Pete), of Moulton.
Pallbearers will be John Dotson, Kenneth Peebles, Charles Manes, Dylan Strickland, Gary Terry and Patrick Tidwell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hillard Tidwell, Kenny Heflin, Jeff Heflin, William Dutton, Gary Steadman and Steve Harrison.
