Robert Lee Powers age 88 of Athens, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mr. Powers was born August 20, 1927 in Veto, AL to Raymond and Birdie Powers.

Services will be Friday, February 5, 2016 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Powers was a member of the Church of Christ, and was retired from TVA and the National Guard and also a Veteran of The United States Army. He was a longtime employee and assistant manager of Hardee’s on S. Jefferson St. in Athens.

Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Birdie Powers; one daughter, Helen Hargrave; two brothers, Clarence Powers and R.C. Powers.

Survived by his wife, Opaline Powers of Athens; one son, Dewayne Powers and wife, Sondya of Athens; three daughters, Debra Harvey, and husband, Andy of Chattanooga, TN, Vickie McCormack and husband, Tony of Ardmore, AL and Delane Merritt and husband, Mike of Pulaski, TN; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chad Wynn, Jeff Gatlin, Andy Harvey, David King, Eric Harwell and Austin Harwell.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
