Make an early date for Valentine’s Day with downtown Athens.
ATHENS-Sweet deals will abound on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the annual Spirit of Athens Chocolate Walk. The event combines merchants’ special offers which are pleasing to the wallet and delectable treats which are pleasing to the sweet tooth.
Tickets are $5 each and are available online through Event Brite or by emailing spiritofathens@att.net to make arrangements. The event is limited to 100 tickets, so early purchase is suggested.
“This is an event we started a few years ago to support our downtown merchants with increased foot traffic, and people fell in love with the idea of shopping and getting chocolate treats,” said SOA Executive Director Trisha Black.
Ticket holders will get to sample chocolate goodies at each participating business. Those who 
visit every participating merchant can enter to win one of five $25 Love Bucks to redeem at any of the businesses.
The Chocolate Walk will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ticket holders need to pick up their tickets at the Spirit of Athens office on Jefferson Street between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ticket holders will receive a map showing where the participating merchants are located.
“Our merchants have creative culinary skills,” said SOA Promotions Chair Holly Hollman. “Among the planned treats for this year’s Chocolate Walk are spicy fudge and chocolate surprise bites.”
