Ada Evelyn Laws Taylor was born to Thomas Greeley Laws, Sr. and Lula Clifft Laws on August 10, 1920. Evelyn grew up in Lawrence County, Tennessee, and graduated from Ethridge High School. She married George Walton Taylor on January 5, 1942. They became the proud parents of three accomplished daughters: Patti, Polly, and Dinah. During the early years of the marriage they lived in Washington state, and spent several months in Corpus Christi, Texas, following job assignments at Reynolds Aluminum Company. They reared their daughters primarily in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, moving back to Lawrenceburg, Tennessee in their retirement years.

Evelyn was a devoted homemaker, mother, and wife. She brought a quick sense of humor and intelligence to everyday life. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ, and taught Sunday school and ladies Bible classes at Highland Park Church of Christ in Muscle Shoals. Throughout the years, she remained a steadfast pillar of care and concern for family and extended-family members. She consistently lived out the values she learned, particularly from her mother, and passed on to her daughters.

She suffered a debilitating stroke, and, following the death of her husband, spent her last ten years in extended nursing care. Her personal dignity, sense of humor, and concern for others earned the respect and affection of the nursing staffs who attended her. That legacy lives on in the family whose love for her will not diminish over time.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Greeley Laws, Sr., mother, Lula Lavada (Polly) Clifft Laws; husband, George Walton Taylor; two daughters, Patti Taylor Carson Pitts and Dinah Taylor Robinson; one brother, Thomas Greeley Laws, Jr.; and one infant sibling, Thomas Lorene Laws.
