Edgar Lafette “Sonny” Mourfield Jr., age 76, passed away Jan. 27, 2016. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. A graveside service will follow at noon at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Brian Gramling officiating.
Mr. Mourfield was previously employed at Spry Funeral Home in Sheffield and also was a fireman for the City of Sheffield. He was an avid Auburn fan and was fond of animals, especially his pet cat, “Oscar Crow.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar L. Mourfield Sr. and Alta Hill Mourfield, and a sister, Norma Jean Mourfield Bevis.
Survivors include sisters, Betty Mourfield Hooper and husband, W.J., Patricia Mourfield Crow and husband, Tommy, Sandra Mourfield Demorse and husband, Leroy, and Mary Elizabeth Mourfield Stoaks and husband, Bob, and several loving nieces and nephews.
