FLORENCE-The Florence Police responded to a call involving a child on the streets alone:
“Around 0900 this morning, officers responded to Handy Head Start on Beale St. on a child that was brought to their location.
A concerned citizen located the 3-year-old at the intersection of W Mobile St @ Nance St. Her picture was posted on Facebook in an attempt to identify her parents.
A short time later, we received a tip on who the mother was. The mother let the girl stay with a friend in Carver Homes. The child apparently left the residence without the adult knowing.
DHR conducted a safety plan for the child and the child is in foster care. Florence Police arrested Leshevia Harris, 22, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She is a friend of the child’s mother.
Additional arrests and charges are pending.“
