Billy Otis Brown passed away on January 25, 2016 in Florence, Alabama. He was born in the Big Ivy Community in Hardin County, Tennessee September 28, 1927, number four of nine children of Dixon Brown (1899-1969) and Myrtle Anna Tucker Brown (1907-2009).
On May 20, 1947 Billy married Charlyne Frank Brown (1931-2001) in Corinth, Mississippi and they have two children, Carolyn June Brown Stankaitis and Kathy Jean Brown Caudillo. He served in the United States Army, after his discharge he returned to Hardin County and lived there a short time before moving to Mishawaka, Indiana where he lived and worked. After his retirement he moved to Florence, Alabama where he worked 25 years as one of the school system’s bus drivers.
Visitation will be on Saturday January 30, 2016 from 11 – 1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home, 3657 Old Chisholm Road, Florence, Alabama with funeral service starting at 1 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dan Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Brown Nabors and Gaston Brown.
Other surviving family members are, Kathy’s husband, Manuel Caudillo, grandsons: Jason & Jeffery Stankaitis and Michael Caudillo; great granddaughter Jasmine Lilyhonna Jones; siblings are: James Brown, Mary Jo Brown Johnson, Bettye Brown Miller, George Brown, Robert Brown and Wanda Brown Calvert,
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Stankaitis, Jeffrey Stankaitis, Michael Caudillo, Todd Brown, Will Calvert and Wesley Calvert.
