Nellie Ruth Haddock Sanderson, age 83, passed away at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence from noon until 2 p.m. Services will be at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Roger Houston. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Sanderson, son, Bobby Gene Sanderson Jr., parents, Andrew Thomas and Mary Beatrice Cobb Haddock, two brothers, Thomas Harold Haddock and James Clyde Haddock, and her special nephews, David Glen and Troy Wayne Rhodes.
Nellie is survived by her two grandchildren, Andrew Michael Sanderson (Sandy), of St. Charles, Missouri, and Jessica Nichole Sanderson (Luke), of Knoxville, Tennessee; one sister, Margaret Lard; and her special nieces, Patricia Strube (Roy), Belinda Haddock Juergens (Glen), Kathy Sanderson Barclay (Larry); and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sanderson worked as a dental assistant to Dr. Barry Hibbett for 15 years. She thought of Dr. Ken Hibbett and Rob Hibbett as her own. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. As a member of her church, she was quick and fast to respond to any need or assistance with food when a need arised, as she did for friends and family. For years she volunteered and visited with shut ins and people confined to nursing homes. She had many friends that thought of her often and remembered her acts of kindness. If Nellie met you she was your friend. If you knew Nellie, you knew she always blew her car horn at everyone she knew. In the last decade of Nellie’s life her niece, Patricia Strube, and her husband, Roy, cared for and took care of her. She was a niece, a friend and a caretaker.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Sanderson, Tyler Juergens, Larry Barclay, John Marks, Logan Marks and Jacson Marks.
